Since domain or IP blacklisting can lead to significant frustration and delivery issues, it is essential to regularly monitor the health of your domain and IPs. This proactive approach ensures that any blacklisting issues are identified and resolved promptly.

Is your sender domain correctly verified?

Make sure you have proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records in your domain's DNS settings. This page has detailed instructions on how to make this happen.

How to check if your domain is blacklisted

Use blacklist look up sites like MXToolBox. Their lookup tool is particularly useful, as it checks both your domain and the corresponding IP address. Since either the domain or the IP can be blacklisted independently, it is important to verify both, as either can lead to delivery issues.

My domain is blacklisted - what should I do?

First, ensure that the issue that led to your domain being blacklisted has been fully resolved. There are many potential causes, but blacklist providers will not consider delisting your domain unless you can identify the root cause and confirm that it has been addressed.

Second, contact the blacklist provider that has listed your domain and follow their mitigation process. Each blacklist or anti-spam provider has its own procedures, so be sure to follow their specific guidelines. In some cases, you may need assistance from your hosting provider, especially if you are using shared hosting or have acquired a domain/IP that was already blacklisted.

Finally, implement best sending practices to prevent future blacklisting. Use double opt-in for contacts, remove outdated or non-engaged addresses, and ensure your emails include all required information and an easy unsubscribe option.
