Exporting - find your template's HTML Code
To export your template, you'll first need to obtain its code.
Templates created using either the Drag & Drop editor or the raw HTML editor have their code readily available for export.
Regardless of how the template was created, any template can be opened in the raw HTML editor. Simply click the three-dot menu next to the template you want to edit, and select the "Edit as HTML" option:
On the resulting screen you will be presented with the entire HTML code of your template. Besides making necessary tweaks if you are proficient in coding, you can also copy this code and use it outside of the editor.
Please note: If a template is created using the Drag & Drop editor and its code is then copied and pasted elsewhere, it will lose its editor properties and will be editable only via the HTML editor. An appropriate message will be displayed when you attempt to perform this action.
Tip: If you're unsure, it's always a good idea to make a copy of the template and perform the operation on the copy rather than the original.
Sharing with Subaccounts
If you're on one of our PRO plans, you have access to the Subaccounts feature. As a main account holder, Elastic Email allows you to easily share your templates with your subaccounts.
Templates shared this way retain their editor properties, meaning they can still be edited using the Drag & Drop editor - both by the main account and the subaccount they’re shared with.
You can find this option under a three-dot menu or in template Default Options (under the gear button):
