The activity statistics on your account provide a comprehensive tracking of every event associated with your emails. For instance, if an email is successfully sent, opened by the recipient, a link is clicked, or the recipient unsubscribes - each of these events will be registered by our system. In the email log you can find the different stages of email deliverability, and this article will help you understand all the possible stages. Let's start:
Ready To Send: The email is in the delivery queue and waiting for its turn to be delivered to the recipient.
Waiting To Retry: An email will receive this status if a delivery attempt encounters a "greylisting" response from the recipient server, or if there is a temporary connection issue. For more details on specific bounce types, please refer to the Bounce Categories and Filters Guide.
Sent: If the email status is "Sent", then the first in line recipient server has successfully accepted the email from Elastic Email. No additional information is yet known about the email.
Opened: This status indicates that your email has been opened. Elastic Email embeds a invisible tracking pixel within the BodyHTML of your emails. When a recipient opens the email, the pixel is downloaded, and the system records the event, marking the email as "Opened." Please note that open tracking is only possible for emails containing BodyHTML.
Clicked: If Click Tracking is enabled on your account, Elastic Email will modify the links within your emails. When a recipient clicks a link, they are immediately redirected through Elastic Email before being taken to the original target URL. Once this event occurs, the email's status is updated to "Clicked."
Unsubscribed: This status means that the recipient used this particular email to unsubscribe from your list(s).
Complained: This status indicates that the recipient has either marked the email as spam in their email client or selected "I did not ask to receive this email" option, during the unsubscribe process. For more information on complaints and abuse reports, please refer to the Complaints Thresholds Guide.
Bounced: An email with a "Bounced" status indicates that Elastic Email attempted delivery but it was unsuccessful. There are various reasons why this may happen. For more details on bounce categories and causes, please refer to our Bounce Categories and Filters Guide.
Suppressed: This email status indicates that Elastic Email did not, or could not, attempt delivery. The most common reason for this is when an email is sent to a contact with a "suppressed" status. For more details on "suppressed" contact statuses, please refer to the Contact Status Guide.
PRO TIP: Always check the full log history to track email statuses. At first glance, you can see the single status of the email. However, using the "eye indicator" in the email logs provides a more detailed view of the email's history.
