How to connect Elastic Email with IFTTT?
Step 1: Connecting to IFTTT.
To connect Elastic Email with IFTTT, you will use an OAuth authentication process:
Log in to your IFTTT account.
Use the search bar to find the Elastic Email service.
Click on the service and select Connect.
A new browser window will open, redirecting you to the Elastic Email login and authorization screen.
Enter your Elastic Email credentials and authorize the connection. Once successful, the window will close, and the service will show as "Connected" in IFTTT.
Step 2: Creating Your First "Applet".
IFTTT operates on a simple logic: "If This (Trigger), Then That (Action)."
On the IFTTT home screen, click Create.
Click If This and search for a trigger service.
Click Then That and search for the action service.
Follow the prompts to map the data fields between the two services and click
Finish.
Technical reference table.
The Elastic Email IFTTT integration offers a variety of Triggers and Actions to automate your marketing efforts:
Triggers (If This).
Triggers are events that initiate your automated workflows. Elastic Email provides the following triggers:
New contact: this trigger should activate when a new contact is created within your account, regardless of the list or segment.
New list: this trigger fires when a new list is created.
Campaign sent: the workflow starts when any campaign is sent from the user’s EE account.
Email sent: the workflow starts when an email is sent from the user’s EE account.
Queries.
A Query is a way to request additional data that your Applet's Trigger doesn’t provide. Queries run immediately after triggers, but before filter code.
Find contact: this query returns a contact's details by email.
Find a list: this query returns a list with the specified name.
Actions (Then That).
Actions are operations that occur after a specific trigger (and also depend on how they are arranged).
Create a contact: this action will create a new contact.
Unsubscribe email address: this action will unsubscribe the specified email address from the specified list.
Best Practices.
Security first: never share your credentials in public forums or include it in the description of public IFTTT Applets.
Test your workflows: always run a test to ensure the contact appears in Elastic Email as expected.
Monitor limits: be aware of both Elastic Email's sending limits and IFTTT's Applet limits to avoid service interruptions.
