Want to make sure certain subscribers don’t receive your campaign? Our exclusion feature gives you full control over who sees your emails, helping you target your audience more precisely.
Why use exclusions?
Sometimes a subscriber may belong to multiple lists or segments. Excluding specific contacts ensures that anyone in your excluded lists or segments is skipped, even if they appear in the groups you intend to send to. Exclusions are perfect for avoiding overlaps, preventing redundant emails, and maintaining a clean subscriber experience.
Example:
You want to send your campaign to your contacts, however, you don’t want members of the "Pro Users" list to receive it.
By setting the "Pro Users" List as an exclusion, anyone who is in both groups will not get the campaign, avoiding unwanted duplication or irrelevant messaging.
Where to find it
The exclusion feature is available directly in the Campaign Creator for Regular Campaigns.
Note: Exclusions are not supported for A/B Test Campaigns.
How to exclude contacts
In the Campaign Creator, locate the “Exclude contacts” toggle.
Enable the toggle. A new dropdown labeled “Do not send to” will appear.
Select one or more lists or segments you want to exclude.
The input supports multi-select, allowing you to exclude multiple groups at once.
All lists and segments from your account are available.
Important: The ‘All Contacts’ segment is not shown and cannot be excluded.
Check your recipient count
Once exclusions are applied, the "Summary" section will show the final number of recipients:
This helps you verify that your campaign reaches exactly the right audience.
