The AI Template Designer enables Elastic Email customers to build professional email templates. With a simple prompt, users can generate designs from scratch, refine existing layouts, or adjust specific content blocks - quickly and efficiently with AI.

Instead of manually editing elements in the drag-and-drop editor, users can apply changes through natural language prompts. The assistant supports tasks such as:

  • changing colors,

  • rewriting text,

  • modifying blocks,

  • adjusting padding, or updating fonts.

*Note: Image generation is not supported by the AI Template Designer. Any templates created with this feature will contain placeholder images, which can be replaced later using the Media Manager.

Interface layout

The AI Template Designer is integrated into the new Drag & Drop editor. When a new email template is created - either through the campaigns editor or the templates gallery - there is an option to begin with the standard Email Designer or the AI-powered Template Designer. Selecting the AI option opens a modal where an initial prompt can be entered, and a complete template is generated by clicking Create Template.

The initial message from the AI assistant is displayed in the left panel, where prompts can be entered. Once a request is processed, the corresponding AI response and template update are shown. Any processing errors are also presented in the same panel. The conversation can be scrolled to review the history of prompts exchanged during the active session. Closing and reopening the editor resets the session, displaying only the initial AI message without access to the previous conversation.

*Note: While a prompt is being processed, the editor enters a "loading" state. During this time, no edits or inputs are possible. The duration of this stage depends on OpenAI’s processing time.

When no block is selected, prompts and modifications are applied to the entire template. Selecting a specific block activates block-editing mode, where all inputs affect only that block. Exiting this mode is possible by clicking outside the block or using the close button above the prompt field.

The Editor also offers a feature to switch between AI and the standard drag-and-drop editor, thanks to the integrated toggle:

That's not all! Previously saved or predefined templates from the Gallery can also be easily customized with the AI editor. Smart - isn't it?

Quick suggestions

At the beginning of a conversation, quick suggestions are displayed above the input field. Selecting an option prefills it into the input area. The prompt can be edited, modified, or submitted as is.

Undo/Redo function

Undoing an action in the AI Template Designer restores the template to its state before the most recent prompt and removes that prompt from the conversation history. Redo reverses this, reinstating both the template updates and the prompt in the history. Redo actions do not count toward prompt usage limits. Both undo and redo apply to changes made in the Drag & Drop editor as well as the AI editor.

Usage Limits - what account users should know

The table below shows the query limits along with useful information regarding the AI editor

  1. Subscription limits are refreshed monthly, based on the plan’s renewal date.

  2. Free plan limits do not renew; once exhausted, upgrading to a paid plan is required.

  3. Users are clearly shown their current usage based on this policy.

Note: Click the lightbulb icon to access detailed information about query usage and the renewal date. For free accounts, query limits do not renew, so no renewal date is shown.

If any clarification is required, we are available to you every day at any time. Please contact our 24/7 Customer Support to get the necessary assistance. We are always happy to help!
